Experience the Many Flavors and Forms of Kyo-zushi
Hisago-Zushi is easily reached at the heart of a lively area for shopping and tourism. The restaurant's wooden decor and relaxing atmosphere provide a welcome and calm break from the busy streets outside. Hisago-Zushi's most famous dish is the Kyoto specialty sushi, "Kyo-zushi." Perhaps the most well-known variety of sushi is "nigiri-zushi," which is consists of a slice of raw fish on top of sushi rice. "Kyo-zushi," however, uses cooked and vinegared fish, as well as adding color with egg. There are varying forms, including square and round varieties. This local variety of sushi is loved for the sweetness of the rice and the deliciousness of the cooked fish.
Chirashi-sushi
1Recommended
Chirashi-sushi / ¥1,890
Finely sliced conger eel, shredded egg, prawns, and more on vinegared rice. The balance of the fragrant eel and egg with the sweet vinegared rice is just right.
Hako-sushi
2Recommended
Hako-sushi / ¥1,620
A compact, square-shaped sushi. Includes delightfully soft conger eel, shrimp, thick Japanese omelet and more. Since the flavor is already strong, we recommend eating it without dipping it in soy sauce first.
Red miso soup
3Let's Try!
Red miso soup / ¥150 when added to chirashi-sushi
For an additional fee, the clear broth soup which comes with the chirashi-sushi can be exchanged for red miso soup. This rich miso soup complements the sweetness of the sushi perfectly.
Mini Kyo-zushi(Take out)
4Let's Try!
Mini Kyo-zushi(Take out) / ¥2,096
This filling take-out menu is perfect for taking back to your hotel to eat! Mini Kyo-zushi includes both Hako-sushi and the nori-wrapped Maru sushi.
How to Order

We recommend you try one of the restaurant's famous chirashi-sushi or hako-sushi. You can order as many hako-sushi as you like. The restaurant also has the ever-popular nigiri-sushi on the menu too.

- Order Tips -
If you start to feel so full you can't finish, you can say the following phrase to the staff in order to take your meal home: “Mochikaeri de onegaishimasu.” (Take out, please.)
