Kamu offers traditional okonomiyaki in a traditional Kyoto town house
Kamu is an okonomiyaki restaurant in a traditional machiya town house. You can see red lanterns in front of the restaurant, marking it as an okonomiyaki place. Kamu offers Hiroshiyama-style okonomiyaki, meaning the ingredients are not mixed, but instead layered. As this is an okonomiyaki place, they, of course, have an iron griddle known as teppan in the restaurant which they use to cook the okonomiyaki and other dishes, including wagyu beef. The bar seating is the best place to be: you get to enjoy the smells of okonomiyaki being cooked and look at the masterful use of the grilling spatula by the chef. But they also offer lunch, and in this article, you can find out what type of lunch!

You get plenty of cabbage, fatty pork slices, and noodles in your Hiroshima-yaki, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. The portion is really big! The okonomiyaki is topped with sweet okonomiyaki-sauce and seaweed flakes. You also get miso soup, rice, pickles, plus a small extra dish with your savory pancake.

Yakisoba set
Yakisoba means noodles cooked with pork and vegetables, flavored with a thick, black, sweet sauce. You also get red ginger pickles with it which makes the noodles taste more refreshing. This taste reminds many of the summer festival food stalls.

And end your lunch with a refreshing dessert. This citrusy sherbet makes you forget all about the saltiness of the noodles. There is even fresh lemon peel in it!

At Kamu you can enjoy authentic Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in Kyoto. At lunch they have a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with all-you-can-eat white rice and miso soup for only 800 yen, which is almost cheap. At night they offer teppanyaki!

This restaurant is only a 5-minute walk away from subway Shijo Station so it is easy to access. Their delicious Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki has noodles and a lot of cabbage inside it, and the texture of it is crispy! Their lunch set is very reasonable at 800 yen for the okonomiyaki, rice, miso soup, and even a salad!
