Dishes Not to Be Missed from the Ramen Shop that Knows Everything There Is to Know about Chicken

kirameki JAPAN / キラメキ JAPAN

kirameki JAPAN
Kirameki JAPAN is a ramen shop around ten minutes’ walk from Keihan Demachiyanagi Station.
The restaurant, bearing the unique name of “Kirameki,” is in fact a franchise of the popular Kyoto ramen shop “Kiramekinotori.”
Kirameki JAPAN’s specialty dish is without a doubt their “Tori Tonkotsu Ramen.” Not as heavy as regular tonkotsu ramen, but with the characteristic rich flavor of chicken. The chicken stock base (whose recipe was crafted through repeated trial and error by the owner), rich tonko...moretsu soup, and handmade noodles (made with no preservatives or artificial seasonings) combine in an almost orchestral harmony of flavors! It’s so perfect that you’ll be reminded how sweet it is to be alive after just one bite. The restaurant’s interior is modern and bright, with plain wood tones. There is a university nearby, so the shop is popular among students and always lively.
While Kirameki JAPAN’s related stores (Kiramekinotori / キラメキノトリ, Yu-hi no Kirameki Ichijoji / 夕日のキラメキ一乗寺, Kirameki ChickenHeart / キラメキチキンハート) all share the same basic premise of handmade noodles and chicken stock, each nonetheless has its own unique characteristics. If you enjoy Kirameki JAPAN, then we highly recommend visiting one of the others as well — you won’t be let down.

I must have eaten over a hundred different kinds of Ramen here in Kyoto, but there are few that I’ve thought I’d like to eat every day, and this is one of them. I’ve long been a big fan of the store’s sister restaurant, Kiramekinotori / キラメキノトリ, so I have often visited to enjoy their “Taiwan Mazesoba” or “Tori Paitan Ramen ,” but the “Tori Tonkotsu Ramen” I had this time was absolutely sublime — even compared to the others I had tried. There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll be visiting again in t...morehe future!
Kirameki Japan is a new store in a highly popular Kyoto franchise. The chain is known for its Taiwan Mazesoba, and visitors can of course enjoy the most delicious Taiwan Mazesoba in Kyoto here, but my personal recommendation is for the Tori Tonkotsu Ramen (soy sauce flavor). It’s good enough that it could be called the best ramen made with chicken in Kyoto… or even in the whole of Kansai! I really hope you’ll try it with a large portion of the restaurant’s own lovingly homemade noodles.
Tori tonkotsu ramen
1Must Eat !
Tori tonkotsu ramen (soy sauce flavor / large) / ¥850
This is the soy sauce flavored variety of Kirameki JAPAN’s signature dish, “Tori Tonkotsu Ramen.” The soup is thick and rich, but thanks to the chicken stock its flavor is far from overpowering. The noodles are of a medium thickness, and mix well with the rich soup. They’re sure to go down smooth!
The green onions floating in the soup are crunchy and lightly spicy, and are the perfect companion for the strong flavor of the broth. The portions are rather generous, but we nonetheless recommend me...moren order the larger size as it can be all too easy to eat it all up at once.
Tori tonkotsu ramen
2Must Eat !
Tori tonkotsu ramen (salt flavor / large) / ¥850
Another top dish is the salt-flavored Tori Tonkotsu Ramen. It’s a little lighter than the soy sauce version, so it may be the better choice for those who prefer a little less seasoning.
The delicious chicken and the rich tonkotsu are as above, but coupled with the mouthwatering additions of solid salty tones and sour citric flavors from the lemon added to the top of the soup, this is one dish that you won’t want to stop eating.
Taiwan Mazesoba
3Let's Try !
Taiwan Mazesoba "Naotaro" (Big) / ¥750
This rich ramen dish contains powerful seafood flavors and no soup. First of all, the chives, green onions, minced meat, nori seaweed, ground fish, garlic, and eggs in the bowl should be mixed well with the noodles and eaten. Once the noodles are all gone, the most delicious way to enjoy your Taiwan Mazesoba "Naotaro" is to add rice to the leftovers and polish them off. Mixing the ingredients together produces a rich and curious flavor that is bound to have you hooked. It’s pretty spicy though, ...moreso take care if you’re not a fan of spicy foods.
You can choose from three sizes: 小(Small)・並(Medium)・大(Large). The price remains the same whichever you choose, so pick whichever you like.
Chicken and Pork Butter Rice
4Let's Try !
Chicken and Pork Butter Rice / ¥250
This dish consists of sweet rice, cooked with butter, and bitter-sweet stewed chicken and char siu. The buttery rice is soft and silky smooth, and goes down very well. The colors are beautiful, too, making it for all the world like a dish from a high-class “kaiseki” banquet.
