I was amazed that a lot of ingredients used in La Locanda are imported from Italy to follow the true authentic Italian cuisine offered in Kyoto. Please visit both lunch and dinner as they provide the different atmosphere. As three types of private rooms are available, please consult with any staff in The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto if there is a need.

Tomato pasta
This is one of the signature dishes at La Locanda. When you imagine “tomato pasta”, it may be entirely red. However, it is interesting that this Neapolitan tomato pasta is without a red color in order, which follows the authentic Italian cooking method. Ingredients are all imported from Italy, even the fruit tomatoes on top of the pasta. The fresh basil and fragrant garlic flavors perfectly match with Gragnano pasta and parmesan cheese. This is simply the best pasta I’ve ever tasted in my life!

To find the best low fat meat in Japan that meets the chef’s expectation, it took about a year to discover it. The beef is nicely grilled and the smoked cheese gives more aromas. What is interesting is that the beef tendon is used in this dish and it melts in your mouth, leaving the refreshing, rich beef flavor. Also, enjoy the crunchy texture of chicory.

This is also my favorite dish- artichoke with two kinds of tunas in potato sauce with coffee powders. When you first taste it, you may find the fresh aroma of Burrata cheese, nicely cooked artichoke and different flavors of two kinds of tunas spreading in your mouth. The coffee powder gives a refreshing taste as well.
