Perfectly Firm Soba Noodles at a Traditional Japanese Style House
Established in 1688, “Misoka-an Kawamichiya” is a Soba restaurant of old standing with a history of over 300 years. The shop is built in a Japanese traditional style of wooden architecture, called Sukiya style. Upon entering, you will notice the faint, pleasant smell of wood. It’s an old-fashioned Japanese style house that can rarely be seen nowadays. The menu mainly consists of a few kinds of Soba and a la carte dishes. We recommend that in the good old Japanese atmosphere at “Misoka-an Kawamichiya,” you first enjoy some sake and a dish of your choice, than order some Soba to wrap it up.

Thicker and tougher than normal Soba, every bite is full of flavor. Delicious with the strong tasting sauce and crunchy and delicate oils of the Tempura that enhances the harmonious taste.

Hot Soba with chicken and green onions. The chicken broth creates a tasty soup that makes you want to drink to the last drop. The Japanese pepper is a great accent.

How to Order



First choose between hot Soba or cold Soba (you can also choose to have Udon instead,) Then, choose any toppings you might want such as Tempura. We recommend to anyone ordering beer and sake as well to go for a side order dish to go with it.

Ask the waiter if you want to add some spices in order to enhance spiciness and flavor. "Sansho wo kudasai".

Misoka-an Kawamichiya is a long-established soba restaurant, founded over 300 years ago. You can feel the history of the restaurant in the old "machiya" wooden townhouse it's located in. They also have an inner garden. I like my udon white and a bit on the thick side, so I really like this restaurant! To really taste and enjoy the fragrance of soba I recommend ordering the simple zarusoba, soba on a bamboo sieve.

They are most famous for their zarusoba with tempura. The tempura is crunchy and mild-tasting so it is easy to eat. The garden inside the restaurant is charming and makes it possible to relax while you enjoy your soba noodles.
