Shabushabu and other Japanese cuisine that you can enjoy with natural views along the river
The Takase River runs nearby the Kawaramachi shopping district in Kyoto. This area features plenty of greenery - a place with an atmosphere that is very representative of Kyoto. The Japanese restaurant Takasegawa Kurio is located just as you go into a narrow street along the Takase River. The building is a renovated townhouse of around 120 years old, and the interior features a really calm and relaxed atmosphere. Here you can enjoy the shabushabu hot pot made with wagyu beef, as well as the sukiyaki hot pot and other Japanese dishes made with fresh vegetables from Kyoto. It also offers a wide range of drinks, including alcoholic drinks such as Japanese sake. We highly recommend sitting by the window. The restaurant is situated along the Takase River, allowing you to enjoy your meal as you admire the beautiful view of the calmly flowing water and the cherry flowers that blossom alongside it. Here you are sure to enjoy a delicious meal amid an elegant atmosphere.
Shabushabu-Wagyu and vegetables

Shabushabu is a hot pot made with konbu seaweek stock, cooked with added meat such as wagyu beef, as well as a variety of vegetables. Once the water comes to the boil, first add the spring onions, and then the wagyu beef for about five seconds. Then take them out. To eat them, dip them in some ponzu citrus sauce (a sauce made with soy sauce combined with citrus fruit juices). The delicious flavor of the wagyu beef, the spring onions' crunchy texture, and the sourness of the ponzu citrus sauce all come together to produce one delicious flavor.

Tempura made with crispy batter and fresh vegetables. The variety of the vegetables can vary depending on the season and what has been delivered to the restaurant. On this day, there were sweet and crunchy carrots, as well as some deliciously-cooked sweet potato. Tempura is eaten by dipping it in matcha salt or tentsuyu sauce.

Homemade ”TOFU” / ¥950
This tofu is only made after it has been ordered. Many of the tofu that are sold in department stores have a mild and lightweight flavor; however, this Homemade "TOFU" offers a strong and rich taste. It has a soft texture that simply melts in your mouth. Eat it with some salt to highlight the original flavor of the tofu even more.

A fragrantly grilled sablefish marinated in saikyo miso, a rich and sweet sauce used in Kyoto since the olden times. This fish features a smooth texture thanks to the absolutely perfect amount of fat on its body. We definitely recommend eating the skin of the sablefish as well. This is a dish that goes simply perfectly with rice.
How to Order

English menus available. The English menu includes some of the dishes available at the restaurant. However, the most popular dishes among foreign visitors -the shabushabu and sukiyaki hot pots, and other recommended dishes- are featured in the menus with photos, so that English speakers can order with confidence. The table charge is 450 per person.

- Order Tips -
We definitely recommend eating dishes made with wagyu beef. If you like milder flavors, we recommend the shabushabu. If you prefer richer flavors then we would recommend the sukiyaki.

The view from inside the restaurant is fantastic! The lights that shine on the trees along the Takase River are incredibly vivid and mesmerizing. The dishes are made with carefully selected ingredients. The chefs create delicious dishes using cooking techniques that highlight the natural flavors of all those ingredients. This restaurant is also located close to the Gion District, so it is absolutely perfect for an evening meal after strolling around the city all day.
