Over 400 cherry blossoms like a flower carpet blooming for the entire season
Hirano Shrine is famous for the place where more than 60 types of cherry blossoms and approximately 400 trees are planted. Among them, 10 types are uncommon species of cherry blossoms and are special to the shrine. Especially sakigake sakura, which you can see from the main gate, is said to signal the start of cherry blossom season in Kyoto when it blooms. The blooming period differs according to the type of cherry blossoms, typically between late March and end of April, so that you could see the icon of Japan, sakura, for at least 1 month. The shrine offers some items that are related to cherry blossoms such as a paper fortune, ema (to write your wishes on it in order to come true), and more. Those are very fun items to get on your visit. Places such as Kinkaku-ji Temple and Kitano Tenmangu Temple are easy to access to and from Hirano Shrine. If you would like to go around several temples or shrines in a short time, Hirano Shrine is a must-go place to start.
This specific cherry blossom trees originated in Hirano Shrine. If you plan to visit Kyoto around late March, sakigake sakura will be waiting for you for some pictures to be taken of these white and pink blossoms. Even though it is only one tree, it is absolutely dynamic!!
Make Sakura Shaped Paper Fortune
Cherry blossoms motif paper fortune are sold at ￥300. Shaped leaf of cherry blossom pops up as you open the motif. Levels are indicated in Japanese, it is totally fun and a memorable experience to have in evidence that you were in Kyoto on a lovely season.
Getting Energy From Suehirogane
This is a rock consists of 70% iron so that any magnet sticks to it magically. It is believed that to people place Sazukaru Mamori (￥800) on the rock in order to get power from it or pray for happiness. Notice: Please do not put your mobile phone and any electrical items on the rock. The devices may get defected.
