Unforgettable experience with various kinds of owls in Kyoto
Owl Family Kyoto
Have you ever experienced to come in contact with owls in your life? If you visit “Owl Family” (“Fukuro-no Mise” in Japanese), various kinds of owls will welcome you with a sweet behavior. The petting session will be held every one hour from 12pm till 8pm (11am till 8pm on weekends). You can touch and hold the owls in your arms, shoulders and head during the session (depending on the size of the owls). What is great about this owl shop is that all the staff sincerely care about each owl. Hence, ...morethey give enough rest and suitable environment for all the owls. Please note that the photo taking with flash is strictly forbidden as the owls are very weak against the light. All the staff are very friendly and filled with love for all the owls in the store.

Must See !
Look at these gorgeous and pretty owls! There are various kinds of owls in different sizes. On your right hand side of the room, several owls are standing on the bars, and they are available to play with you during the session. All of the owls located in the shelves are taking a break. Even though they look similar at the first glance, they are all different in breeds, sizes, patterns, and they even have different facial expressions! Please find your favorite owls!

Play With Owls
During the session, you can touch and put the owls on your arms, shoulders, and head! You may be nervous at first, but they are surprisingly calm and well behaved. We recommend that you try from the small size owl first and then move to the bigger owls. You can also gently touch them during the session. Please follow the instructions that the staff give in order to have a safe play time with owls. Also, please do not use flash when you take pictures.

Do Some Shopping
Before and after the session, you can look around the shop and make a purchase if you find the one you want. Owl items are very pretty and useful. Our favorite is the post cards that were specially produced by the designers in the motif of the owls in the shop. You may recognize which owls are the models of the products.
