Sawai-shoyu Honten ― Main store
This shop, nestled away in a quiet residential area near the Kyoto imperial garden, has been making and selling Soy sauce for around a hundred years. One part of this building, which still produces Soy sauce, has been made into a shop where the products are lined up on display along with genuine cedar barrels that are actually used in the production of Soy sauce and an aromatic fragrance fills the air. The Soy sauce made at 「Sawai-shoyu Honten」 is made with the same pain...morestaking process as ever, giving it a delicious and luxurious flavor that will add an extra layer of deliciousness to your own cooking or even store-bought sushi.

A deliciously rich Soy sauce matured for two years that’s just perfect for sashimi, coming in a delightfully shaped and designed bottle.
An original dressing made with Soy sauce, coming in three flavors: The refreshing “Sesame”, “Italian” (perfect for marinades), and the strongly soy-sauce flavored “Japanese-style.” Try it with salads!
This tote bag, made with Kyoto’s traditional Nishijin weaving method and embroidered with a cute floral design, comes packed with our recommended Soy sauce and other products for cooking Japanese food.
We recommend you ask our store attendants to help you choose the best Soy sauce for you. If possible, try our male owner, as he can answer your questions in English!
As many of our products are in glass bottles, please take care not to drop them!
