Story & Recommendation
A cafe with colorful sweets run by an old Japanese “wagashi” confectioner
Opened in 2013, “Nijo Wakasaya” is run by a Japanese confectioner's shop with a history of almost 100 years. The first floor offers takeout wagashi (traditional Wagashi (Japanese Sweets) ), while the second floor features a cheery cafe often filled with women. Most customers come for the kakigoori - Japanese shaved ice. Along with seasonal flavors, they also serve a colorful kakigoori which comes with five different types of syrup. The cafe offers a seasonal selection of fresh sweets and green tea, allowing customers to really experience Japanese seasons. Rest your travel-weary feet and relax with the gentle sweetness of Japanese wagashi or the refreshing chill of Japanese shaved ice.
