Story & Recommendation
Enjoy the oldest botanical garden in Japan all year round
Established in 1924, Kyoto Botanical Gardens is the oldest public garden and has long been loved by both locals and visitors to the city. The garden consists of various types of gardens, both eastern and western, a big conservatory, an old forest, and other areas exhibiting about 12,000 kinds of plants and flowers. Located in the northern part of the city, the garden is surrounded by beautiful sceneries, such as Mt. Hieizan and the Kamo-gawa River, making it a perfect spot to relax. The garden provides all-year-round enjoyment to people who love nature. To name a few, the 450 cherry blossom trees in the spring or the red leaves in autumn are both magnificent

It takes at least a half day to go around the garden, so spare enough time for the visit. ※map 【Botanical Gardens】 http://www.pref.kyoto.jp/plant/documents/map-eigo.pdf 【conservatory】 http://www.pref.kyoto.jp/plant/documents/onsitu-english.pdf
