The most popular event among our readers was ROHM Illumination! This event is held every year near the Kyoto company ROHM headquarter. They use LED lights they produce themselves, and there are 800,000 of them! It’s the biggest illumination event in Kyoto City!
The event place is a bit far from the closest station so it’s not too crowded and you can enjoy the event at your own pace. This event is good for families with children.
The reason why this article was the most popular one might be because of the promenade of illuminated trees you can see in the first picture.
Event dates: End of November to End of December
Place: By ROHM HQ.
This is the next popular event! You can experience a tea ceremony at the world heritage site of Nijo-jo Castle. This is an elegant event where you can drink matcha tea and eat Japanese sweets on the chairs prepared inside the beautiful garden. At first the event may look like difficult to join, but actually it’s casual and open for everyone.
You may have a tight schedule when traveling, but it may be a good idea to take a moment to calm down with tea in a beautiful garden. This is a good chance to get to know Sado, or Japanese tea ceremony.

Third popular was an event about the autumn leaves of Kyoto. This event Kibune Momiji Toro is held at Kifune Shrine every year in November when the leaves chance their color. The contrast between the mysteriously illuminated maple leaves and the red lanterns lining the stairs make this event a must-go in autumn.
On the day of the event the road to Kifune Shrine is also illuminated and you can enjoy a luxurious autumn leaves view.
The shrine itself is of course also illuminated, and can be entered at night only during this event. I went to this event, and it was really pretty! There are many good places to see autumn leaves in Kyoto, but don’t forget about Kifune Shrine’s.

There are many flea market articles on Sharing Kyoto, but the most popular one was about this handicraft market. This handicraft market is held on Umekoji Park close to JR Kyoto Station on the first Saturday of every month except January and May. All kinds of people have stalls here, and they sell everything from food to antique tableware.
The park is lively with people looking for treasures. The shops change every month so those of our readers in Kyoto for a long time should go more than once!
Event time: First Saturday of the month except for January and May

Last we have another autumn leaves event. This event is a special autumn leaves one run by Eizan Electric Railway that connects Kyoto City with Kibune and Kurama areas. Many places on the route of the train are overgrown with maple trees and during the event these places are illuminated at night.
And then you can see the illuminated autumn leaves from the windows at this tasteful event. This is a great autumn event where when the train enters the “maple leaves tunnel” the lights are turned off and the train continues on at a slower speed.
Event place: Beginning to end of November
Place: Eizan Electric Railway
Address | Eizan Railway Demachiyanagi Station |

Event time | Momiji Leaf Tunnel is lit up from sunset to around 9:00 pm during the event days. |
