Japan is full of fun places to go to, and convenience stores are no exception. The sparkling clean shelves full of inviting products at Lawson, 7-11, and Family Mart all invite you to try the treats, and what’s important is that they are all delicious! If you want delicious sweets, you don’t need to go to a department store or line up for a famous café; you can get them at any of the convenience stores you can find all over Japan! Here is my definite list for the best convenience store sweets of 2017

Mille Crepe Cake

Mille Crepe Cake

The cream between the soft crepe layers melts right in your mouth, and the soft, fine texture of the cake makes it so good it’s almost better than the ones you get from a bakery! It won’t turn hard when left in the freezer, the cream is not too sweet, and you won’t get bored of the taste. Put this cake on your Japan shopping list so you can eat delicious cake without having to line up!

Cheese Cake

Cheese Cake

This thick, strong tasting cheesecake is bound to be a hit among cheesecake lovers. You can taste lemon in the cake, which makes the fragrance very appealing and the taste refreshing.

The cookie crust

The cookie crust also tastes authentic, it is crisp and there is a slight saltiness to the taste.

Mont Blanc Cake with Italian Chestnut

Mont Blanc Cake with Italian Chestnut

On the outer side you have layers of chestnut cream, inside there is whipped that tastes rather refreshing, not fatty, and then you get to the chestnut that is on top of a sponge cake base,

just melt in your mouth

which makes the whole cake just melt in your mouth, the texture almost resembling that of pudding.

There is even a bit of rum in it!

You can’t look down on Japanese convenience stores! The taste of their sweets does not lose one bit to those sold at bakeries and other specialty shops. The competition between the convenience stores is hard, so their products also change often, but this also means that they have many new interesting things for you to try. If you come to Japan, remember to take a look at what convenience stores have on offer!
