Story & Recommendation
A world of their own, a fun Izakaya in Downtown Kyoto
Sit and be surrounded by pictures and posters all over the wall and ceiling in Chikyuuya. Chikyu, meaning globe, is an unusual place but have a luring sense of appeal. Inside of this Izakaya hangs a flag of Brazil, and on the wall are photos by young photographers, and old posters from 70’s or 80’s, it’s a place that has a world of its own. Chikyuuya is a place to mingle with friends in a fun atmosphere with great drinks and food. Everything is affordable and in big portions. For about 40 years, this place kept making locals happy. Keeping the prices low is a sense of compassion for everyone, from poor college students to working salary-men, to be able to have a drink and satisfy their stomach with deliciousness.
