Fragrant Miso Ramen Cooked at over 300°C
Located 5 minutes’ walk from the Shijoukawaramachi crossing in the central shopping area of Kyoto, and specializing in Miso ramen. Its main feature is the unique fragrance of the food, caused by heating the miso and shoyu to over 300°C. Couple seats and seating in the restaurant’s small courtyard are available, and the interior has a refined and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is very close to a famous Kyoto shopping street, "Men Ichiba," where a wide range of foodstuffs like tsukemono pickles, tofu, vegetables, and seasonal ingredients can be found. It’s the perfect place to get in touch with Kyoto’s unique food culture! Why not head on over after trying some ramen at Gogyo? During dinner time, many dishes that goes well with drinks are available. If you are looking for a place to have a drink, try Gogyo during the night.
Kogashi Miso-men / ¥890
Ramen made with a miso base. The bitterness of the charred miso is just right, and also a little sweet. The soup is very hot so take care not to scald yourself!
Kogashi Shoyu-men / ¥890
Ramen made with a shoyu base. It’s a little less bitter than the Kogashi Miso-men. The sweetness of the finely chopped egg really brings out the flavor of the shoyu.
Rice with Char Siu / ¥150
This dish of broiled char siu on rice is best enjoyed eaten by adding the mustard on the side of the bowl bit by bit.
How to Order
The staff will hand you an English-language menu if you speak to them in English, so ordering should be easy. First choose the kind of ramen you’d like, followed by the amount of noodles, and your order is complete.
- Order Tips -
The price remains the same no matter how large of a portion of noodles you go for. The regular portion should be plenty for women, and men are sure to feel full after polishing off a large one. Portioning up is free only during lunch time. For dinner time it is additional ￥100.
