Gyu-tan is a charcoal grilled beef tongue. It is chewy and meat juice is coming out as you bite. If you order a set meal, beef tail soup, wheat rice and Japanese pickles would come along. This beef tail soup would make you refreshed after having the juicy beef tongue. What is different from other Japanese restaurant is that they would offer a wheat rice that goes perfectly well with beef tongue. If you are not familiar with the term “Tororo”, this is a grated yam. It is white and sticky type of yam. We sometimes put it on the rice as a topping. Traditionally, it is put on the wheat rice and eaten with beef tongue. It makes the whole meal more flavorful and milder, so please try putting it on your rice!
