Story & Recommendation
A well-rounded curry ramen specialty
Hyakuten-Manten is located on the 2nd floor of a building in the shopping district along Sanjo-dori. Curry ramen is their most popular dish. The full-bodied curry broth is moderately spicy and mingles well with the somewhat thin noodles. The soup is topped generously with local Kyoto specialty, Kujo green onions, adding an integral crispy texture. The shop can also satisfy a broad range of dining needs, serving curry rice, ramen, combo meals, udon, and more.

The soup broth is made of a rich mixture of tonkotsu (pork bone), chicken, and curry made with 38 kinds of spices. Be careful not to splash any soup on your clothes. If you place the noodles on your soupspoon, it can help prevent splashing.

The curry roux is made by thoroughly boiling together vegetables and meats. It is a flavor you will want to enjoy regularly, and will never grow tired of. You can choose between spice levels of “medium” and “spicy”. We recommend medium for people who are sensitive to spicy food.

Fukujinzuke ”vegetables pickled in soy sauce” / Free
Free tsukemono (pickles) will be offered in the silver tray on your table. The shop recommends eating your curry with a few of these sprinkled on. Their sweet and sour flavor is a great complement to the spiciness of the curry.

Daily Special Menu
Daily Special Menu / ¥800
On weekdays, they have a special menu available only until 2:00 pm. The special changes each day of the week. Rice or mini-curry can be added to any menu item.
How to Order

Chashu pork, boiled egg, and other toppings can be added to your ramen for an additional ¥110~¥210. Toppings like fried chicken or pork cutlet can be added to curry for ¥230~¥300. A server will provide an English menu if you ask, and they will kindly assist you the best they can with gestures. The Japanese menu does have pictures on it, so it shouldn’t be too hard to make your selection.

- Order Tips -

If your table runs out of fukujinzuke, say to a server: “Fukujinzuke wo kudasai.” I would like a Fukujinzuke.
