Mochi served Kitamura way in a Japanese course meal

The restaurant, located along the Kamo River, offers course meals consisting of their specialty mochi dishes and seasonal ingredients. They also offer a la carte dishes right next door, so be prepared to choose which entrance to take. This sticky and gooey rice cake made with gluttonous rice may be unfamiliar to many people around the world, but it’s something that is accustomed to most Japanese people. The dishes served in Mochi Cuisine Kitamura are frequently changed due to the usage of seasonal ingredients. Food is carefully prepared bringing out delicate flavors that are distinct characteristics of Kyoto cuisines. You will be enjoying not only mochi, but many seasonal seafood and vegetables at Mochi Cuisine Kitamura. Mochi is often seen in celebration of big events like the New Years. The ￥10,800 Course
The type of dishes served will depend on the season, or even on the day, as with many Japanese cuisine restaurants use the freshest ingredients. This course will include around 6 dishes plus a dessert. Many people assume that the course consists of mostly mochi, after all, it’s a mochi specialized restaurant. But that is not the case. The course consists of a variety of dishes with the use of seasonal seafood and vegetables. The mochi is still the main character though. The course comes with the original specialty dish the restaurant is known for, Tarako Mochi, or mochi in cod roe sauce.
This Tarako Mochi is a creativity of Mochi Cuisine Kitamura in a bowl. Naturally this dish became well known because of its simple but unique idea. Tarako Mochi will be included in the course, and it’s a dish most people excitingly look forward to during the meal. Cod roe sauce is made by carefully combining cod roe and egg yolks for a smooth, salty sauce that covers all over the mochi.
Omocha-bako (toy box)
It’s almost like an art piece, this box is called Omocha-bako, or toy box, as it’s playfully named by the chef. The feeling of excitement when opening a box never gets old. Reach out to open this box to find seasonal ingredients prepared to be eaten in the beginning of each course as an appetizer.
How to Order
It’s better to make a reservation beforehand. The yuka outdoor riverside seating is available during May to September.

There are two choices for the course meal: ￥10,800 course and ￥13,000 course. Choose the ￥13,000 course if you are feeling extra extravagant.
