Vividly colorful, gently spicy curry with outstanding flavor
Spice curry & dining Cumin's is a spice curry specialty store which opened in Kyoto Karasuma Oike in February 2018.
Cumin's is in a quiet area just off of bustling downtown and surrounded by streets lined with cool restaurants.
The inside is set up with counter seats at the window, and a tablespace that stretches to the back of the restaurant.
It's a beautiful, warm space that feels like fits right in with the atmosphere of the surrounding stores.
The curry here is made by a chef with extensive culinary experience in western and Indian cuisine. The curry has a rich curry base with sweetness from tomatoes and onions and comes combined with an original soup. It's characterized by its moderate spice with outstanding rich and umami flavors.
Not only the curry, but there are also plenty of a la carte full-course meals as well, such as spicy chicken and stir-fried spice pork belly. Everything goes perfectly with drinks as well, so we recommend going not only for lunch but for dinner too.
Basil and Cashew Nuts Chicken Keema Curry
The curry at the front of the photo is the Shrimp and Coconut Curry. (The picture is of a 2 kind Aigake Japanese-style extra-topping curry)
In this mildly spicy curry, you can enjoy the texture of cashew nuts with the basil flavor.
This classic curry with outstanding umami from the chicken with sweetness from cashew nuts, which have been made into a paste and blended into the curry roux, is my recommendation.
Shrimp and Coconut Curry
This curry adds the flavor of coconut and mellowness of fresh cream to the umami of boiled down shrimp heads and shells.
This curry is based on a curry the chef ate in an Indian restaurant in their twenties.
Chef Yamada: "Not only was there shrimp in it, but you could actually taste the natural flavor of the shrimp.
I thought, if I'm going to open a shop, I have to put this on the menu."
You could say this curry full of memories is the roots of this store.
Beef Sinew and Leek from Kujo Curry
The curry at the front of the photo is the Beef Tendon and Kujo Scallion Curry. (The picture is of a 2 kind Aigake Japanese-style extra-topping curry)
This spicy chili curry adds the flavor and sweetness of Kujo scallions to the richness of soft beef tendon which has spent hours stewing.
