Story & Recommendation
If you want to enjoy the Kyoto summer tradition of kawadoko, Hirobun is the best choice!
One of Kyoto’s most famous sightseeing areas, Kibune, has in the summer many outdoor terrace areas on top of rivers called kawadoko. If you want to enjoy Kawadoko, I want to recommend you go to Hirobun! At Hirobun you can feel like you are truly experiencing kawadoko at its best. The contrast between the vivid vermilion of the parasols and the pale green of new leaves is beautiful, and to think that you can also listen to the murmur of the river at the same time as you look at them; perfect! If you want to truly enjoy the atmosphere of Kibune, you should go to Hirobun. A special experience is waiting for you.

For a limited time, from May to September, you can enjoy kawadoko cuisine on kawadoko. The prices differ based on how many dishes there are in the courses. There are many things on the menu, like the Kyoto kaiseki classic salt-grilled ayu – sweetfish and thin and delicate somen noodles. How about enjoying these summery dishes at refreshing kawadoko terrace?

It’s great to have some beer with delicious kaiseki cuisine. At Hirobun you can, of course, have a beer, sake, shochu, and all kinds of alcoholic beverages with your dishes.
How to Order

Hirobun menu

This time we had 12 dishes! The final of this course is luxurious, you get both somen noodles and takikomi gohan (Japanese mixed rice)! There is quite a lot, so I recommend going with an empty stomach.

- Order Tips -

Even on weekdays, you may have to wait for an hour for the somen noodles, but you can also make a reservation. If you want to get in smoothly and enjoy the kawadoko terrace in peace, I recommend getting a course.
