Story & Recommendation
Enjoy a Kyoto kaiseki dinner—which draws out the potential of each ingredient—with heartfelt hospitality
Jiki Miyazawa is located right next to Nishiki Market, "the kitchen of Kyoto". You can enjoy Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine that makes the most of the ingredients' flavors. Jiki Miyazawa's cuisine is based on simple Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine. This restaurant is characterized by the fact that even though the dishes may look simple at first glance, you can feel the time and effort that were put into each bite. In order to bring out the best flavor of the ingredients, each dish is made through a very detailed process.
That is notably the case of the famous "grilled sesame tofu". This simple dish consists of grilled sesame tofu topped with a sauce made only with salt and honey, and a generous sprinkling of roasted sesame seeds. However, once you take a bite, this impression changes completely. The moment you put it in your mouth, the aroma of sesame spreads softly, followed by the gentle sweetness of the additive-free sauce and the buttery smooth texture of the meticulously prepared sesame tofu. Thus, the initial impact is strong, followed by a harmony of flavors and aromas, and a gentle aftertaste, creating three components that make the most of the flavors of the ingredients to create a highly satisfying dish.
Jiki Miyazawa's attention to detail can be felt in the food, but also in the tableware. Be sure to pay attention to antique tableware and those made by contemporary artists.
In addition, Jiki Miyazawa's high quality is reflected not only in its cuisine, but also in its customer service. When you sit down at the wooden counter, the restaurant staff will face you directly and politely greet you. Furthermore, each time the food is brought to you, you will receive detailed explanations about the ingredients and cooking methods.
Please enjoy a wonderful meal at Jiki Miyazawa, where you can feel heartfelt hospitality.
