Story & Recommendation
Enjoy exquisite Japanese and western food while you gaze out into the beautiful garden
Nanzenji Sando Kikusui is a restaurant-ryokan right by Nanzen-ji Temple. The building the restaurant-ryokan is located in was built in the year five of the Meiji period (1895) as a villa of a kimono merchant. There is a great chisen-kaiyu-shiki garden on the premises designed by the seventh Ueji, Ogawa Jihei VII, delighting the visitors.
The restaurant-ryokan was renovated in 2018, and now Kikusui has been reborn into a place that retains its historical origins but still has a modern refined feel to it. While the facilities are of course great, so are the Japanese and western dishes made with seasonal ingredients and the heartfelt omotenashi-service. How about forgetting the business of everyday life for a moment and spending some elegant and special time at Kikusui?
