You can find La Madrague in a residential area, a 10-minute walk away from subway Karasuma Oike Station and close to Nijo Castle. Before La Madrague, Café Seven was at its place, operating for around 50-years, starting in the year 1963. La Madrague was started here to respect the dying wishes of the owner of Café Seven, and so La Madrague’s atmosphere, to this day, reminds one of the Showa period of Japanese history when Café Seven was in business. When introducing La Madrague, you cannot forget their famous egg sandwich. This egg sandwich is made in the same way as the egg sandwiches of the famous Kyoto restaurant Corona, unfortunately no longer in business, were made.
