Curry with many ingredients, unlimited taste options and the fragrance of spices
Mujara is a restaurant specializing in the Japanese curry genre of “spice curry,” and it started operating in July 2016.
The chef says that he started this restaurant because curry was his hobby and that he decides the menu of the day based on the ingredients available. The base of the curry is Indian, but the chef makes his original spice curry version of it.
He prepares the spices every morning and they entwine with the vividly colored ingredients. This makes the curry taste different; magical.
The psychedelic interior of the restaurant is done by the chef. You can feel the uniqueness in both the taste of the curry and in what the restaurant looks like.
Shijo Omiya Station is close to Mujara. From this station, you can go places in west Kyoto like Arashiyama and Sagano. I recommend this for lunch before you go sightseeing. On Friday they are open from the night. Besides their curry, they also have “spice menu” served at night that goes well with alcoholic beverages. Good not only for lunch, but also for drinking at night.
