Story & Recommendation
Let’s try the Fushimi Inari specialty inarizushi and fragrant eel bowl at Nezameya which was founded in 1540!
Fushimi Inari Shrine has gotten the number one spot on one famous website where users can post their reviews, and is located by the famous shrine of Fushimi Inari where there are many souvenir shops and restaurants. Among these restaurants and shops, there is one that stands out: Nezameya, a restaurant with a history that started already in 1540. The name Nezameya is said to have been given to the restaurant by the Sengoku period shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Presently, the famous restaurant often comes up when looking for places offering lunch near Fushimi Inari Shrine. Their most popular dish is the eel bowl, but they also offer inarizushi, sushi rice stuffed inside a tofu pouch, mackerel sushi, udon, and soba noodles, and they even offer grilled sparrow and quail, all kinds of Japanese food. The restaurant being close to a major sightseeing spot, they, of course, have a menu in English and other languages, and gladly also serve foreign customers. If you go to Fushimi Inari Shrine, how about having lunch at Nezameya?
