Experience authentic Hong Kong cuisine in Kyoto
The popular Chinese restaurant Old Hongkong Restaurant Kyoto is found within COCON KARASUMA, which is at Hankyu Karasuma Station; there is also a direct connection from the Kyoto Subway's Shijo Station. It's a wonderful restaurant that offers not only Hong Kong cuisine (a sort of evolved Cantonese cuisine), but also authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum, at a location close to the station. All the chefs at Old Hongkong Restaurant Kyoto are from Hong Kong. Some ingredients are also directly imported from Hong Kong, which gives the food a true Hong Kong flavor. The seafood is an especially good part of the extensive menu. The dishes use fish from the fish tank at the front of the restaurant, making it something unique. Also, the dim sum is made fresh when you order, making it even better. Lunch is a yum cha course full of volume; the dim sum menu features over 60 different items and carried on a wagon, allowing you to see and order what you want directly. Old Hongkong Restaurant Kyoto knows there's more to offering an authentic dining experience than merely maintaining traditions; they're always trying out new approaches, using a variety of ingredients. With over 60 types of Dim sum available, it's made after you order for that freshly-made feeling. The bottom-right is Steamed shrimp dumpling; the bottom-left Steamed chive dumpling; the upper-right Steamed crab meat and yellow chive dumpling; and the upper-left Chinese roasted pork buns. Lunch is a 90-minutes and all-you-can-eat, with food carried around on wagons.

A simple dish featuring shrimp, squid, and scallops, along with seasonal vegetables; it could be called the king of Chinese cuisine. The seafood and vegetables are carefully cut and placed. It's a popular menu item that allows you to experience a variety of textures.

The Lemon sauce of chicken features fried chicken in a refreshing lemon sauce. Hong Kong has not only "fruits of the sea", but "fruits of the land" as well. Naturally, this restaurants offers not only seafood dishes, but meat and vegetable dishes as well--try them.
Fried noodles of pork of bean sprouts and shredded / ￥1,350
A dish featuring fragrant noodles, richly-flavored bean sprouts, and thin-sliced pork. In a restaurant with a variety of Hong Kong-style dishes, the noodles are as good as you'd expect. With everything from single items to whole courses, you have your fill from the deep menu.
