Story & Recommendation
page one Café & Dining Bar is a café in Kyoto offering shaved ice in bowls made out of ice
You can find the café page one, which is run by the oldest shop in the ice trade in Kyoto, Morita, close to Yasaka Shrine in Gion. The ice used here is of course from Morita, and the shaved ice is even served in a bowl made out of ice. It’s quite interesting that the bowl melts very slowly. The shaved ice here is topped with freshly pressed fruit juice, and because of their fame, there is always a line of people wanting to cool down with a bowl of shaved ice in front of the café in summer. This is also why many Japanese media also feature this café on their pages and programs. Besides their famous shaved ice, at the café, you can also enjoy sandwiches and coffee, and at night the café turns into a bar. The café is located in a traditional Kyoto-style machiya townhouse which has been awarded a prize by the machiya association. If you come to see Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto, how about also having some shaved ice!
