Tachinomi Kokoro

- 立ち呑み ココロ -
Kokoro is a new standing bar on Kiyamachi Street where you can enjoy a great selection of food and drinks
This standing bar, Kokoro, is in a small alley about a 4-minute walk away from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, in a small alley after you take the turn by Baskin Robbins, but lately, this place is getting more and more popular. This bar just opened in 2016, and it is a clean looking bar with a Showa period-style retro atmosphere. They are most famous for their stews, grilled dishes, and sashimi. There are also many kinds of authentic Japanese alcoholic beverages. And what’s more, all of these are cheap! This bar is great for those who want to drink and eat for a very reasonable price. Kokoro is open from noon so you can start drinking early! You can eat a lot, or you can drink a lot from noon already. There are many ways to enjoy this standing bar, so I hope you will visit it at least once!
Oden stewed in miso

Oden stewed in miso / ¥100 ~
One of the specialties of Kokoro is their oden stewed in a miso sauce. The slow-cooked daikon and egg have been infused with the deep tastes of the miso. But the taste is not too strong, and it, of course, goes well with sake and beer. Orders start from just one piece, so you can just order the things you like! That’s good!
Sashimi assortment

Sashimi assortment / ¥650
Kokoro puts a lot of effort into their sashimi too. All of the thick sashimi pieces are fresh and tender. Especially this salmon, I’m sure you will be surprised by the great taste you wouldn’t guess from the price. This sashimi assortment is a must; the taste is great and there is a lot of it.
Egg
3Let's Try!
Egg / Single: ¥100, double: ¥200, triple: ¥300
For those of you who want to try something a bit different, I recommend this dish, the “Egg!” The Egg is an omelet you make yourself; you get a hot steel plate, and then pour the egg on it, and mix it to your liking. Even the normal “Egg” has mayonnaise, salt and pepper in it, so it is already delicious, but you can also get toppings like mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and cheese. This dish is completely different from a normal omelet, so I wish you will challenge yourself to try “Egg” at least once.

The toppings available are: cheese, mentaiko, salmon flakes, nori tsukudani, and nametake mushrooms, and they all cost 20 yen. The most popular one seems to be cheese with mentaiko. We also got this combination!

You can make this dish, Egg, by yourself, or you can have the staff make it for you. This was our first time so we had the staff make it for us.

First, all of the ingredients go on the hot steel plate…

And then you mix them together. Even when you are mixing the Egg, you get the sweet fragrant smell of egg and cheese being cooked; it smells so delicious… The best time to have it when the egg is still a bit runny!

- Order Tips -

There are tables at the far end of the bar, but notice that there is a 300 yen cover charge for using a table, but it is nice to know that they also have table seating.

This bar has an old Japanese atmosphere, and it is located in a narrow alley. Their famous “Egg” with mentaiko and cheese goes really well with beer! Also, you can’t leave out their delicious miso oden. They also have many types of sake, and this together with the great food will surely leave a lasting impression on you! Come enjoy the nightlife in Kyoto!
