In a machiya-style building, you can find Yuki no Shita, a pancake place famous for their dedication to only using the best ingredients
You can Yuki no Shita on a quiet alley by Sanjo Street, and at this café, you can enjoy their thick pancakes, or you can have shaved ice, French toast, or just have some coffee or tea. Yuki no Shita takes great care in selecting only the best ingredients, so they use organic eggs from Mie, their dairy products come only from selected farms in Shizuoka Prefecture, and the flour they use is all made in Hokkaido. After having a bite, you’ll know the difference this brings.
Their shaved ice bowls use seasonal fruits, but they always have matcha shaved ice. They use natural ice from Kagoshima Prefecture’s Mount Kirishima, so the ice has a very nice, airy texture to it. When you add the colors of the fruits to this, you have a surprisingly healthy snack for the hot days of summer. Because of these things, there is always a line in front of the restaurant. So remember to go early if you don’t want to line up for too long!
Thick strawberry pancake

The strawberries come from Saga Prefecture, and they are grown by one farmer who uses self-made fertilizer when growing them. So they taste sour but very sweet, so they go exceptionally with the pancake. As expected from one of the most famous menu items of the place!
Thick Uji matcha pancake

This thick pancake is made by using matcha from Uji, and there is a little bit of bitterness in the tea-like taste of this pancake which is topped with red and black beans in honey. You also get matcha syrup with this, so it’s something everyone who is into matcha needs to order.
You can change the pancake to a normal one or to a condensed milk one too. Normal: \750, condensed milk: \800, both prices do not include taxes.

Kiwi fruit shaved ice

This bowl of shaved ice is not normal. It has a strong taste of kiwi fruit and an airy texture, and it’s almost like you were eating the fruit itself. It’s not sour at all, but very fragrant, and this must also be the reason for its popularity. There is condensed milk in the middle, and when you reach it, it’s really hard to stop eating.

French toast for adults

They use a baguette from a carefully chosen bakery in Kyoto, which is then dipped in egg and caramel sauce, and then baked in the oven, and thus you get a crispy French toast which has a little bit of brandy in the taste. When you dip the French toast in the jam you get with it, the taste changes again, so you could say that this is a very exciting piece of French toast. You get five pieces of it, so there’s quite a lot.
