Story & Recommendation
The Inari God makes a parade to give blessing to local people
Inari festival starting from ‘Shinko festival’ (April 19th) to ‘Kanko festival’ (May 3th) is held at Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. The god of Inari makes a tour around Ujiko area (where local people who believes in Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine are living) and gives blessing to them. Inari festival is the most important festival in Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. Trucks caring 5 portable shrines with holy god, priests and accompanying followers parades on to Otabisho. Otabisho is the temporary place where the portable shrines are being located until Kanko festival ends. Traditional Inari festival has been continued for more 1000 years and crowded with a lot of people every year. Once, it was said that 1/3 area of Kyoto was Ujiko area and Otabisho was located on Ujiko area. Otabisho was an important place which connects people who are living in center of Kyoto and other outside the city.

Shinko festival
Shinko festival is held on April 19th, from 11am. All of the festival members are wearing a crown-Eboshi hat which is decorated with Japanese cedar twig and the holy god is dedicated to a portable shrine. The huge portable shrine is a most spectacular attraction in Shinko festival. You can see it free of charge, so please check the gorgeous portable shrine.

Ujiko (local people worshiping the shrine) makes a tour around Ujiko area with the portable shrine. 5 portable shrines depart from Otabisyo, and they go to each Ujiko area separately, so Otabisho is the only place where you can see the five portable shrines at the same time.
