Springtime boat ride through canal plus cherry blossom illuminations
Get on the boat for an extravagant ride through the Lake Biwa Canal. This canal brings water from Lake Biwa into the city of Kyoto. Boat transportation, once was a significant part of everyday life, now runs mainly for sight-seeing purposes for limited time every year in Kyoto. The boat ride will start from Nanzen-ji Boat Pier and travels 1.5 km to Ebisu Dam and back totaling to 3km ride in about 25 minutes. The boat will pass by Heian Shrine with an incredible view of the torii gates.

We recommend including this boat ride for your sight-seeing plans in Kyoto. Cherry blossoms bloom along the canal, great for taking photographs during the ride. The boat ride is in the area of Okazaki. Many interesting places are around the area such as National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto Municipal Museum, and Heian Shrine.

Only during the blooming period of cherry trees will the boat run during the night. The illuminated cherry blossoms are absolutely beautiful. Special nighttime ride runs until 8:30pm (departure time).

Online Reservations
Make reservations online and purchase tickets through the English website. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. Tickets are also sold on the day-of onsite usually from 9am, however, tickets may be sold out by noon. Please note that additional fee of ￥108 is required for online reservations. Online reservations start at the end of February every year!

Online reservations can be made until noon of the day BEFORE the departure date. Exchange your printed confirmation email with the boat tickets at least 15 minutes prior to the departure time.
