Kyoto’s Biggest Bread Festival Yet. Two days of bread filled fun at this World Heritage Site
Beloved by Kyoto locals, the “Kyoto Bread Festival” began in 2015 to celebrate the Kamigamo Shrine’s *Shikinen Sengu event. As Kyoto boasts the highest consumption of bread anywhere in Japan, it has been deemed the “City of Bread.”
With the UNESCO World Heritage Site Kamigamo Shrine as its setting, this festival brings together popular Kyoto bakeries and every type of bread under the sun.
This festival is also a great opportunity to learn about the culture around Kyoto bread and the history and traditions of this beautiful shrine, so if you happen to like bread or god, either or, then make your way down and enjoy both.
*Note that this festival lasts only two days, (11/9 & 11/10).
