Story & Recommendation
In one of the best spots for hydrangeas in Kansai, Mimuroto-ji Temple in Uji, you can see the magical sight of 10,000 hydrangea flowers illuminated at night
Mimuroto-ji Temple in Uji is so famous for its hydrangeas that it’s sometimes called the “hydrangea temple.” On the nearly 17,000 square meter temple grounds there are 50 different types of hydrangeas. And in June, the temple’s 10,000 hydrangeas all bloom at once.
During this period, Mimuroto-ji Temple specially opens its garden to the public and on weekends illuminates the flowers at night. Also, after it rains, the way these beautiful flowers look as they glow like diamonds in their luster is truly magical.
Of course, the garden can be visited during the day, so if you’re coming to Kyoto in June, you should consider getting a glimpse of this incredible garden for yourself.
