Story & Recommendation
The most famous and probably the most mysterious spot in Arashiyama is the Bamboo Grove
One of the symbols of Arashiyama is the bamboo grove. Walking through a bamboo grove is definitely not something that you can encounter every day. Bamboos in Arashiyama grow thick and strong giving shades to cool down the summer heat while letting in beams of sunshine during winter for warmth. Walking the entire path will take approximately 10 minutes. But we suggest giving yourself enough time to go to the surrounding sightseeing spots on your way to or back from the path.

In Kyoto, an event known as Hanatouro is held in Arashiyama. At the Hanatouro event held in December, the Arashiyama area is colored by the glow of andon (A small lantern made from bamboo and plastic) and beautiful ikebana flower arrangements, much to the enjoyment of visiting tourists.
