A national treasure in a spacious area overlooking an impressive pagoda
Ninna-ji Temple has spacious grounds and been registered as a world heritage site. At the entrance, there is a huge gate and dramatic Niozou statues to the left and right of the gate. Within the grounds are buildings designated as national treasures and important cultural assets. From a beautiful garden with a pond surrounded by trees, you can gaze at the backdrop of a five-storied pagoda. From the beginning to middle of April, the famous Omuro-zakura (cherry blossoms) are at their peak, and the temple is bustling with many visitors. There are many sights to see at Ninna-ji Temple. Please enjoy the views and the buildings with their charm built up over their long history.

Hokutei (north garden)
Hokutei is a garden that you can see from inside the Shinden building. You can see a pond with clear water, white sand in beautiful patterns, and trees that change colors throughout the four seasons. You can also catch a glimpse of the five-storied pagoda. It is forbidden to go outside the wooden fencing or to lean on the wooden fencing.

Omuro-Zakura (cherry blossoms)
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom every year between the beginning and middle of April. These cherry blossom trees are famous for their late blooming and the relative small size of the trees when compared to other cherry blossoms. With the trees closely packed together and their unique height, the blossoming trees are very beautiful. As it becomes very busy with many people during the peak cherry blossom season, please be considerate of others while enjoying the cherry blossoms.

Look At Niozou Statues From Below
The huge Niomon gate stands at the entrance to Ninna-ji Temple. On the left and right side of the gate stand the muscular figures and angry expressions of the Niozou statues. Please have a close look at them from below. You will certainly feel the impact of the statues.
4Good Experiences
Take Pictures of the Five-storied Pagoda
After approaching the towering five-storied pagoda and admiring its decorations, take a photo of it from top to bottom. You can get a photo of it in its entirety if you go far away and crouch down a bit.
