Story & Recommendation
Experience a public bath in the basement of Kyoto Tower
Some of you may know that Japan is popular for public baths and hot springs. If you would like to experience a public bath with ease in Kyoto, you should visit the Kyoto Tower Public Bathhouse ~YUU~. It is in the basement of Kyoto Tower which is a famous landmark located just in front of Kyoto Station. The way you enjoy Japanese public baths is quite different from those in western countries. First you need to be completely naked when you take a bath (you can take a small towel for washing your body). Also, please wash your body before taking a bath. As this public bath opens from 7am, you can enjoy having a bath in the basement of Kyoto Tower when you arrive in Kyoto early in the morning!
Public Bath for Men
It is fun taking bath with this hot water fountain! It’s also interesting that there is a panel of Mt. Daimonji on the wall, which is one of Kyoto’s major landmarks, so you might feel as if you are in the center of Kyoto while taking a bath! Another good point is that the dressing rooms are very clean!
Public Bath For women
In the women’s bath, there is a regular bathtub with hot water. As there is a quiet and relaxing atmosphere inside the public bath, you can enjoy a calm moment and relax your body. The dressing room is warm enough to take off your clothes, so you can easily come to Kyoto Tower Public Bathhouse ~YUU~ even in winter. The lockers are secured with keys that you can bring to the public bath yourself.
- Manner & Tips -
Please shower and wash yourself before taking a bath. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, basic skin-care products, and hair dryers are stored in the public bath. If you would like to rent a bath towel, it costs ￥100.
