Enjoy beautiful garden in the solemn and peaceful atmosphere
Shoren-in Temple is one of the five Monzeki temples of the Tendai sect in Kyoto; the head priests at these temples originally belonged to the imperial family. The atmosphere at the temple is solemn and peaceful, similar to the ambiance of the Imperial Palace; this kind of an environment can only be found at Shoren-in Temple (referred to the official website). When you enter the tatami room, you may notice the beautiful garden through the windows. This garden changes its image depending on the seasons. In spring, pretty cherry blossoms come out and Japanese maples and all leaves change their colors in autumn. Please enjoy matcha tea served in this room while enjoying the gorgeous scenery.

Beautiful Garden
Look at this beautiful garden through the window! You may also enjoy the gorgeous doors with flowers painted in different colors in this room. When you visit this room in the early morning, you may clearly hear the sound of water dropping to the pond in the garden. It is very peaceful, and you can also walk around the garden as well as the bamboo hill next to it.

Enjoy Matcha
You can enjoy some matcha in this room. When you pay the entrance fee, you will receive a paper card. Please bring it to the room and wait on the red carpet with the card. Staff will come and serve matcha tea and a Japanese dessert. You may surely enjoy the beautiful scenery while enjoying the matcha tea.
