The 4th Floor Lobby where Heian-jingu Shrine’s Torii can be seen
The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto is very close to Heian-jingu Shrine. The torii gate of the upper Heian-jingu Shrine can be seen from the 4th floor lobby. Please enjoy this unexpected view
The gallery has works of Nihonga (Japanese-style paintings), Yōga (western-style paintings), prints, sculpture, crafts (ceramics, textiles, metal works, wood and bamboo works, lacquers, and jewelry), and photography.
Cafe 505 has glass walls and faces a river. You can enjoy coffee, tea, cake, or a light meal while enjoying the beautiful landscape. Terrace seats are popular as a great spot for people to enjoy the cherry blossoms in the spring. Unfortunately, reservations are not accepted.
The Museum shop offers art books, postcards and exhibition catalogs which were previously held in The National Museum of Modern Art Kyoto. Glass crafts and items from overseas are also available.
