Story & Recommendation
Shrine attracting many people to pray for success and prosperity
Yasaka Shrine is located right in the center of town, Gion, where many people visit to enjoy shopping and sightseeing. Yasaka means "eight slopes" with many opinions surrounding the origin of it's name. Mainly it is told that the origin is from Yasaka-no-mitsuko who used to be someone in the samurai class. The building structure is unique among the shrines of Japan. Generally shrines are built separating the main shrine where priest pray with areas where visitors pray. However, both of them are located in the same and built to be in closer bond between them. They have some interesting spots to pray for business and for beauty. In addition, Yasaka Shrine plays a major roles in Gion Festival which has 1,100 years of history and is held every year from July 1st to July 31st.

Main shrine
Main shrine
The structure is about 360 years old. The shrine structure is rare because the area for Shinto priests to pray and the areas for visitors are located in the same spot due to the beliefs of having the god and visitors be more close in relationship. You can write your wishes on a plate which is made by wood available to be purchased for ¥500. Pray for your health, safety, and any other wishes that you may have.
2Highlight
Minami Rou-mon (south gate)
Minami Rou-mon (south gate)
Surprisingly, the south gate is the main gate. Many visitors misinterpret that Nishi Rou-mon (west gate) is the main one located by Higashi-oji Street. Perhaps its because of the colorful gate that is larger than the south gate.

If you want to pray for the success of your business, it's a good idea to stop by here. Ebessan helps your business to be successful.
