Story & Recommendation
A shrine home to the gods of building good relationships and marriage
This shrine is located a short distance from the center of Gion. It’s where people come in hopes to break off bad relations and form good ones. It’s said that the "power stone monument of breaking off bad relations and initiating good ones" will grant your wishes. Visitors pass through the hole in a large rock and stick down a note on which they’ve written their wishes. The rock covered in notes is really a sight to see. Even people with no particular wishes visit just to take photos.

Lucky charms
Lucky charms
From among the many different types of charms, I recommend the matchmaking charm. If you have someone who you’d like to get close to or who you’d like to date, this is a must have! "Fill" the charm with your hopes and tie it to your bag or some such object. These come in two colors; purple and red. They cost 500 JPY each.

The main hall
The main hall is a magnificent wooden building. The roof is made from large tiles that have been laid down in a complicated arrangement. Barrels of sake have been placed beside the shrine as an offering.

Pass through the hole in the "power stone monument of breaking off bad relations and initiating good ones"
Do a round trip in and out of the hole and stick down the note on which you’ve written your wish. I’m sure that big people will find it rather tight, but do give it a try! We recommend that both men and women wear clothes that’s easy to bend over in *For information on how to pray, please take a look at the following site: http://www.yasui-konpiragu.or.jp/en/stone/

Write your wishes then tie the Ema tablet up in the area dedicated to them at the side of the main hall. When writing on the tablet, remember to write your own name too (initials are OK). Large Ema on the left of the photo are 500 JPY each. Small Ema on the right are 300 JPY each.
