Kyukyodo – Incense, stationery & reasonably priced washi-made goods
Established around 350 years ago, Kyukyodo sells a range of various miscellaneous goods but primarily focuses on incense – meaning that the entire store smells incredible!
While the incense is great, we recommend the Japan-themed goods made of traditional washi paper. The store stocks everything from postcards to origami, all with varying patterns and colors. And, as most of these items are small, they are easy to use and easy to take home. They are also wonderfully affordable, meaning that they make the perfect bulk souvenirs as well.
*Due to construction on the building, Kyukyodo will be running out of a temporary store between March 2019 and fall 2020.

Kyukyodo offers a lineup of around 30 different varieties on incense, including classic Japanese aromas like cherry blossom and sandalwood, and western fragrances like rose and mint.
If you're looking to try multiple fragrances, we recommend the incense and incense holder set that includes various fragrances and a lovely holder.

Kyukyodo also sells postcards featuring young Kyoto Maiko, famous locations in Kyoto and picturesque Japanese landscapes. The postcard lineup changes with each season and each new Chinese zodiac, so you’re sure to run into something new every time you go.
Why not get yourself a couple and send them to friends or family back home?
