Only ￥54 Japanese sweets long loved by locals
Listen to the sound of making a bite-sized original Japanese pan cake by an exclusive machine in front of the Shop, London-ya which is among the shops at Shin-kyogoku shopping street. They have been offering only one sweet, London-yaki with white beans cream in the castella since the end of the second world war in 1945. The reason why the sweet was named “London-yaki” is that using English words was a trend at the time since a lot of people from overseas visited Japan including Kyoto. So they gave it the name, London-yaki without any concerns. As it has been really long-loved by locals, over 3,000 pieces are sold surprisingly. You can buy just one piece of it for ￥54.
