Story & Recommendation
Healthy Japanese seasonings and various kinds of sake in Kyoto Station
Located in the Shopping Mall Kyoto Porta, this shop offers healthy products such as various kinds of sesame oils and seasonings, and Japanese Sake. If you are wondering where you should buy Japanese Sake, we suggest that you visit here! There are various kinds of Japanese Sake in this shop and are relatively reasonable. If you are interested in making Japanese food in your own country, you can also purchase high quality soy sauce, miso, Japanese vinegar and so on. As this shop is located right in front of Kyoto station, you don’t need to carry all the heavy stuff that you have bought to your hotel- you just pick up what you want and put them in your luggage when you leave Kyoto!

Sesame oils
Sesame oils / ¥486 ~
You may be surprised by the variety of sesame oils in this shop! There are regular sesame oils, chili and some other sesame oils. All of them have a rich sesame flavor and it is good for a souvenir as the package is sophisticated and beautiful. If you would like to cook something with this sesame oil, we recommend that you make a consomme soup with egg and leak. After making everything, you put a bit of sesame oil so that the soup would have richer flavor.

Goma Suko
Goma Suko / ¥507
This is an almighty spicy seasoning to every dish! The reason why its name is “Goma suko” is that it is made of “goma” (sesame), “su” (vinegar) and “ko” (pepper). It is a little bit sour as vinegar is also used for it but still have a mild and spicy taste as sesame is a base ingredient. It is also good for souvenir as it is a handy size.
3Check it out!
Kinkaku (720ml)
Kinkaku (720ml) / ¥1,728
This sake is especially for a special occasion such as birthday, wedding and graduation as gold foils are contained inside. When you shake the bottle, you can easily see the gold foils are floating. As you probably know, the name “Kinkaku” is from Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto and this sake is also made in Kyoto.

Various kinds of sakes
Various kinds of sakes / ¥500 - ¥2,000
As you can see in this picture, there are various kinds of sake lined in the shelves! If you don’t know what you should buy, please ask to the staff as they would answer your question politely. Our favorite is a plum sake called “Ume-shu” that has a sweet fruity taste. You can drink it as a rock or mix with cider.
