Kinkakuji & Uzumasa

There is a sightseeing route heading west from the famed golden pavilion of Kinkaku-ji that takes visitors to Ryoan-ji Temple and Ninna-ji Temple. It is rather plain compared to the approach …moreleading up to Kiyomizu-dera, but especially in fall, walking along the path while enjoying the view of the mountains turned red by the maple leaves is a pleasant experience.

In between visiting the exquisite temples, you may want to stop by the Insho Domoto Museum of Fine Arts to enjoy the building’s unique architecture. The Toei Kyoto Studio Park is also close, and reproduces an Edo period townscape where you can enjoy becoming one of the townspeople from that era or even a ninja.
