Story & Recommendation
Enjoy the beautiful illuminations and projection mapping of the Kodai-ji Temple's special nighttime light-up event.
Kodai-ji is a temple that enshrines the daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his wife Nene.
In spring, summer and autumn, the temple also holds special nighttime "illumination" events.
In spring, the lights and projection mapping shows bring to life the beautiful temple and its surrounding cherry blossoms, while the green leaves of summer make the temple feel like a cool refuge on a hot and humid summer night.
Meanwhile, autumn brings an entirely different ambiance, with the dark red of the leaves of the trees providing a more solemn, dignified feel.
Everything from the elegant garden and bamboo grove to the magnificent temple buildings themselves are lit up in a simple, yet graceful way, which is why so many people attend these events every year.
In addition to the lights, Kodai-ji Temple is also famous for its various 3D projection mapping shows which bring together the ancient landscape of the temple and the newest projection technology.
