Story & Recommendation
365 days of chocolate and giving happiness everyday right in center of Gion
Imagine that each day is represented by a particular symbol. For example, a flower indicating “flower day” on April 7th or star and circle shapes indicating “day of shooting stars” on February 9th. Each day is special and CACAO 365 brings decadent smooth melt-in-the-mouth chocolates with a special symbol and a message every day. This shop is lined up with playful fun chocolates in one of the most traditional areas of Kyoto. It’s an ideal place for chocolate lovers who will most certainly find new insights towards the art of chocolate. All the products are created carefully with 5 senses in mind: sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. Enjoy the high quality delectable sweets that Kyoto has to offer at CACAO 365.

The store mascot, “Cacao-chan,” brings happiness to those who hold these chocolate on a stick. There are 3 different flavors: orange-bitter chocolate, caramel-bitter chocolate, and strawberry-bitter chocolate. In addition to already fun cat-shaped chocolate on a stick, if you are lucky enough, you may be a holder of the winning stick. A winner will receive a wonderful present! Just look for あたり (atari) indicating that you are a winner.

These chocolate is just enjoyable to have for both its taste and shape. As with all products, from packaging to the product itself, it’s full of fun. There are 5 different flavors available all of them traditionally enjoyed in Japan: cane sugar and shichimi (seven-blend spice), black bean kinako (roasted black bean powder), okoicha (strong green tea), yuzu, and white sesame seeds. Notice that there is a face of maiko on the packaging. Also on the chocolate itself, it has the character 京 (kyo) representing Kyoto.

CACAO 365
CACAO 365 / ¥1,080/2 pieces(tax-included), ¥2,160/4 pieces(tax-included)
Check out the day’s chocolate made carefully every day, 365 days a year. These will make an excellent present to make someone’s birthday extra special or for an anniversary and spend a special day with these chocolate and your loved ones. Each day has a specific design on them with a special message. Highly recommended to check it out on to see what’s the day’s message. The Chocolate is very decedent with thin chocolate which breaks with a bite only to release the rich cocoa flavors of soft melty chocolate made with Bolivian cacao. Because of its delicacy, these chocolates must be eaten within 3 days.

- Shopping Tips -
Some products must be kept in a cool place to avoid melting. Product like Dora-koban, a moist cake with crispy thin chocolate and aromatic chocolate cream in the middle, can be stored at room temperature without a problem.
